Fuel planning
The Meridian 220 burns 2,400 kg of fuel per hour. How many kilograms does it burn over 3 hours 30 minutes?
Answer: 8,400
The method
Three hours is 3 × 2,400 = 7,200 kg, and the half hour adds 1,200 kg, giving 8,400 kg.
How it is built
Built to be checked, not believed
Timed the way it is timed
Every answer is on the clock, because the assessment is. Study mode takes the clock away while you are learning a method. Timed mode puts it back when you are ready to be tested.
The method, every time
After every answer you see how it was done, including when you got it right. Getting the number by luck and getting it by method look identical on a score sheet and nowhere else.
Hints that teach, not rescue
The first points at the right part of the table. The second gives the shape of the calculation. Neither gives you the number, and taking one is recorded, so your accuracy stays worth reading.
Sourced, not asserted
Anything describing an official requirement carries where it came from and when it was last checked. Half remembered advice is free everywhere. This is the other thing.

What does the programme cover?
All eight stages a candidate meets: Mental Maths, Technical, Abstract Reasoning, Psychometric, HireVue, Panel Interview, Simulator and Advanced Compass. Each is trained in the form it is actually sat, which is why the arithmetic is timed with no calculator and the performance charts have to be read both ways.
How much time does this take?
Ten minutes is a real session. Draw a quick set of ten questions, work through them, and see where you stand. A full numbered paper takes about half an hour. Nothing here asks you to block out an evening before it gives you something back.
Where do your questions come from?
We write them. The arithmetic a pilot assessment tests is not anybody's property, but the specific wording of a specific question is, so nothing here is copied from a test paper. The performance tables and charts are drawn as our own artwork, using an invented aircraft type, so you are reading a real table rather than a photograph of somebody else's manual.
Do hints count against me?
They are recorded, not penalised. Your accuracy is reported alongside how many answers you took a hint on, so the figure you are looking at means something. A score that quietly counts assisted answers as unassisted is not worth having.
How is my timing compared to other candidates?
Only once enough other people have answered the same question for the comparison to mean anything, and never against your own earlier attempts dressed up as somebody else's. Until then the app shows your own time and says nothing about anyone else's.
